Our Philosophy
As a Catholic School, St. Michael's School as three primary aims:
- To teach the Gospel message of Christ and provide the skills and environment essential to meeting each student's needs. In general, Catholic education illuminates and enriches a student's knowledge of God, life and culture.
- To build a community based on Jesus' command to love one another. By living and learning in a faith community children become caring and concerned members of the total human community.
- To serve the human community through prayer, worship and social action.
Our Spirituality
St. Michael's School offers personal experiences in Christian living through school liturgies, daily prayer, religion classes and sacramental preparation. Programs for the reception of the Sacrament of Reconciliation take place in second grade and for the reception of the Sacraments of Confirmation and the Eucharist in third grade.
By integrating religious truths and values with academic preparation for life, St. Michael's School effectively prepares students to meet the challenges of tomorrow's world. A well-balanced curriculum, a warm Christian family environment, highly professional and dedicated staff members-- all this contributes to the whole student's growth in academic achievement, love of God, love of neighbor and self-esteem.
Goal
To foster a faith-filled Christian atmosphere of learning where students are taught to be resourceful, respectful and responsible.
Religious Instruction:
- Daily religion class
- Student prepared Thursday liturgies
- Adoration of the Eucharist on the first Friday of the month
- Rosary on the second Friday of the month
- Daily Advent prayer services
- Stations of the Cross on Fridays throughout Lent
- Sacramental preparation for First Reconciliation in the second grade
- Sacramental preparation for Confirmation and First Eucharist in the third grade
